Once a tenancy is complete and the cooling off period of 48 hours has lapsed, the student is liable for their contract. The student will not be able to cancel their tenancy agreement unless their reasoning falls under ‘No Place, No Stay’, ‘No Visa, No Stay’ or ‘Replacement Tenant’. Sufficient evidence must be provided from the institution before Unilife cancel the contract.
Most landlords and letting agents require a UK-based guarantor. Without one, you may be asked to pay your full year's rent upfront. To help students navigate this, we've partnered with Housing Hand, which can provide a recognised certificate of rental guarantee, giving both you and your landlord peace of mind.
It's worth knowing that several of our student halls don't require a UK-based guarantor at all, allowing students to pay rent in convenient instalments instead. My experience at the Unilife Bargate house has been incredibly positive. The staff there is incredibly friendly and helpful. A special mention goes to Juan, the house supervisor. He is very energetic and kind to all the residents. He always organizes events for the students there. Once again, I would like to say a massive thank you to every staff in Bargate House.
