Pros: Friendly and supportive staff at the reception. Cons: Lyra is owned by investors and seems to have no interest in doing more than the bare minimum in maintaining the property because they know that most students will not make a fuss and they will still fill the rooms regardless. I am an adult student and I know how a property should be maintained and this is not acceptable! I have had maintenance problems since I moved in, my flat was moldy and multiple things were broken. The latest issue is the kitchen plumbing, which for the past 10 days has been backed up. They were supposed to send a real plumber but that has not happened yet and in the meantime I can't use my sink and therefore cannot cook or use my own kitchen which I pay a lot of money for! Absolutely unacceptable! I advise you to look elsewhere!

A great location with connections to the central line straight outside the building. The staff and the reception team are always friendly and will be more than happy to help you if you have any problems. The rooms themselves are a good size with good storage for food/clothes/books. They also come with a decent sized TV and a good area to work. The only drawback is that my room doesn't have a window that can be opened, however the filter and air con system is good so it isn't too much of an issue.

I have found that this flat has received a lot of negative reviews this year, but the problems were all in Block A. I am still living in Block B, and I hope that those of you who are reading reviews and hesitating to choose this flat can trust me that the facilities in Block B are fantastic. The air conditioning works great, it's cool in the summer, the large window gets great light, and the bed is a great size. The lift in Block B is always available. the price for 2022 is also very reasonable (compared to the city centre). Convenient transport (central line is downstairs) can take me to the city centre for classes very quickly. But this year it seems like the price has gone up very fast. Besides, the receptionist in Block A are really nice and I am very glad to meet you.

The lift is always broken. It will (has been currently) be broken for MONTHS, then they "fix it", it works for a couple weeks at most, then it breaks again. The washing machines are often out of order too. It makes life very hard if you have any type of injury or illness whatsoever. Oh and the main doors tend to break too. If you try to complain, they will deny any responsibility and say you shouldn't expect the lift to work because it's not in the contract, although that's what is advertised and often what you're shown before you move in. There's also never anyone at reception at night, at least now for the two or more same nights each week. This is a concern because if you were to call an ambulance or needed to get in, no one is there. You have no control over the heating whatsoever, it never works properly, and it just blows out DUST. Severely affected my asthma, so don't move here if you have asthma. I have to wake up at 6am every morning, which is when it comes on, to switch it off. It's ridiculous. Oh and also the fire alarms go off all the time, including in the middle of the night. The good reviews are likely about block B. You'll likely be living in block A. If you end up in block A, good luck to you and I hope you don't have any injury ever because it makes life hell. Currently ALL DRYERS AND ALL WASHING MACHINES DO NOT WORK!!!! FOR A WEEK!!!!

Never never live here!!!! Since I move in the ac is always never working because remote control is died I have send email to them for over ten times they never try to fix it and the worst thing is there is no window in the room so even is winter there is still 28degree Celsius in the room. And even it is fix, you cannot turn on or turn off the ac by your self. They'll only tell you it's central air conditioning and everyone has the same thing! But that's not true at all! They just don't want to deal with you. Worst of all, they run the AC in winter and heat in summer. When they crank the heat in summer, the room gets so stuffy you can barely breathe. They don't treat residents like human beings at all! Don't even think about staying in this hellhole—not for all the money in the world.
