Spartan living for the focused student, with one or two luxuries included. Moved into Austin Halllate Sept 2023. Was originally in a ground floor, en-suite room but later on moved up to 5th floor in similar room. The room is very spartan; nothing fancy, just enough room to house necessary stuff. Heating and shower in room were great, occasionally there would be hot water issues but nothing unfixable. I kost enjoyed the spacious kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows in the shared kitchen where me and my lovely housemates would usually hang out. The kitchen comes equipped with induction hobs, oven and dishwasher( we only got to e joy this luxury in the second apartment as the dishwasher in ground floor apartment was not working/assembled). Cabinet space is pretty decent for not heavyduty cookers- if you plan to cook everyday, might need additional storage setup to accomodate stuff. I genuinely enjoyed most of my time here...the only criticism is having to move to different room after settling in properly and dealing with mahor repairwork and scaffolding going up during the sunny summer days 😔 these 2 incidents would be the only smears to the austin hall experience. As a postgrad student, I enjoyed the peace and quiet away from city centre. The ease to access nearest bus stop( Craven Road bus stop a mere 2 mins walk, with buses being almost always reliable). Woodhouse medical centre being just across the road meant it was fairly easy to get access to medical practitioners. I don't think this accomodation would suit undergraduates who are new to uni and want that student life experience as the accomodation is very quiet/not many socialising or drinking/partying events organised. The price is alright considering all bills are included. I do wish there was offer for short term lease(i.e 3 month rental/6 month rental) or if this would be opened to fresh graudates as the shared apartment set up is pretty decent if you are NOT looking for anything fancy.
