Overall, my experience has been fairly positive. The staff are helpful and approachable, and maintenance is one of the strongest aspects — they respond quickly and resolve issues efficiently. I’ve had multiple problems with the heating during my stay, but each time it has been fixed promptly, which is reassuring.
When I first arrived, my room was generally clean, although there were a few missed areas such as some debris on the floor (including fake eyelashes) and slightly dusty shelves. It could have benefited from a more thorough final clean, but overall it was in good condition.
In terms of social life, there hasn’t been much interaction from my personal experience. There have been events organised, but they didn’t really appeal to me — offering a wider variety might help engage more residents.
One area that could definitely be improved is the laundry facilities. There are only two washing machines and two dryers, which is not enough, and they tend to break down quite often. Communication could also be better, as it can sometimes take a while to receive a response when reporting issues via email.
Lastly, the accommodation is quite expensive for what is offered (a private room with an en-suite), although I do understand this is influenced by the general cost of living and building maintenance costs.
Overall, while there are a few areas for improvement, the responsive maintenance team and supportive staff make it a decent and comfortable place to live and I highly recommend it here as so close to Abertay University.
