I stayed at Lyon Street from 24/25. This is just my personal experience, so keep in mind that everyone's is a little bit different!
+ First of all, HUGE shout out to the staff. Colin on maintenance is AWESOME, helped us move in, move out, AND checked my flat before move out day to help ensure I got that deposit back. Shannon is also great, everything I saw was managed very well, and there were a lot of events throughout the year! The RCs are also available 24 hours in case you have any problems in your flat (shoutout to Cole)
+ The accomodation is pretty expensive, but for student accomodation, I found it pretty standard- IMO, it's a much better deal than parker house. My room was bigger and I paid less for it. I paid £640 a month for a Standard Plus room, and I shared a bathroom with one other person (who was nice and clean!). While the price is high, I think they put in a good effort to make it feel like money well spent.
+ They're not too strict about deposits, either- just take good care of the place, don't burn it down, and you're very likely to get your deposit back.
+ The RC and maintenance team are really quick to solve any issues! They're also awesome. Great job guys!!!!!
+ Wifi is great! (Much better than parker.) I never had an issue, it's quite fast!
+ Abertay is super close by, and so is Lidl!
> While there isn't as many "social" spaces as other accomodations, the big gardens on either side of the street are very nice, and great to spend time in. Keep in mind that quite a few flats do NOT have a living room, so if you need one, make sure to email them and ask about that!
> Leaks were an issue that occured quite often. I was lucky enough not to have one, but a few people I know had one at some point in the year. Once again, the maintenance team were VERY quick to help, and they were all fixed quite quickly!
> The washers and driers are a little bit spenny, but this is NOT the accomodation's fault. Point your pitchforks towards Circuit Laundry.
- A popular criticism I've seen is that the size of the rooms can be quite random. Some people have claimed to be paying the same price, though their flatmate has a slightly larger room. This isn't a world-ending issue, but if the difference is important to you, you should keep that in mind.
- Following the room size, some window sizes in the rooms can be Very Not Good. They also don't open very far. As far as I'm aware, this is only an issue in standard rooms. It can get VERY humid and VERY hot VERY QUICKLY. Bring a fan.
Overall, I had a really nice experience there, and a FANTASTIC first year. I would reccommend Lyon Street in very good conscience to a first year student starting off.
