The Neighbourhood is a phenomenal accommodation. I lived here for all 3 years I was at uni - it was worth using all of my student finance and working multiple jobs to live here!! It has such a community and family feeling that makes living there feel like coming home (a much needed comfort on difficult uni days). The staff each year have been so great at their jobs, and so great at creating that environment that made living there so incredible. Some special mentions are needed (even if they don't all work there now): Natalie, Kelly, Andy, Rob, Saeed, Victor, Abz & Dan. Thank you all ✨
The accommodation itself is suited in a great location for all the uni's in Cardiff and a 10 minute walk into the city centre.
It has a small gym, but has enough equipment in it to avoid gym membership costs and still work on fitness goals. The lobby area has a pool table, table football, coffee machines, vending machines, armchairs & tables + chairs - it's the perfect area to socialise and make friends day & night. It is also where TN hosts the Free Pizza Friday (yes, free pizza every Friday and sometimes free drinks too, a great way to meet people in the accommodation) and other event and activity nights (there's a special event night almost every month, and fun activity nights like quiz night, games night, craft night).
Then there's the cinema room, make friends with everyone and then chill in the cinema watching TV all nice and cosy - it really feels like being in the living room at home! The doors to the cinema room are sliding doors so you can even be social whilst having the TV on. There's a dining room downstairs where you can host friends or family, cooking and eating together (again, like being at home).
Plus there's a more private Karaoke room to have the most fun in singing your heart out!! The gym, cinema room, dining room & karaoke room all need booking out at reception (can only book 24 hours in advance) - some days it may be booked up when you want to use one of them, but that was never too much of an issue in my 3 years as you'd use a different room to hang out instead.
The rooms are wonderful too, modern design and just perfect for classy student living. I stayed in a bronze studio all 3 years, and that size was perfect with so much storage too! A smart TV, a BIG showerhead, full length mirrors, double bed, dishwasher - what more could you ask for!
Additional perks of the accommodation: they have bike storage for your own bikes, they have TN bikes you can borrow and use (as long as you book them out), there is a small study room with a whiteboard wall (needs booking out too), there is free continental breakfast on weekdays till 9am.
Laundry room is circuit laundry.
I couldn't recommend this accommodation enough. Uni may have been a bad experience, but The Neighbourhood was one of the positives that got me through the challenges and kept me in Cardiff and completing my degree. The staff, the friends and the memories I will cherish forever. Thank you to The Neighbourhood from the bottom of my heart 💜
