I’m an international student, and over the years, I’ve stayed in a few different student accommodations across London and Brighton. Having lived at Holden Court for two academic years now, I’ve found that while it has a lot of wonderful qualities, there is one key area regarding privacy that needs to be addressed. The Positives: The location here is absolutely excellent. Being so close to the big Sainsbury’s, a wide variety of restaurants, and the main Lewes Road bus stops makes day-to-day life and commuting to university incredibly convenient. Additionally, the staff members are genuinely lovely and helpful on a personal level. Whenever I’ve needed assistance, they have always been friendly, approachable, and very understanding. Areas for Improvement: The main drawback for me has been the approach to room entries and personal privacy. On a few occasions, staff members have entered my room while I was still asleep. Typically, they will knock once and then enter almost immediately. Because there isn't enough time to answer the door, I have occasionally been woken up by staff calling out "Hello" from inside the room. It can be quite startling and uncomfortable to be woken up this way, and if there is no answer at the door, staff simply shouldn't be entering the room at all. Furthermore, the manual door locks do not seem to prevent staff entry. I have a habit of turning the manual lock as soon as I come inside, but staff keys are still able to bypass it. It would provide much more peace of mind if the locks offered full privacy when a student is inside, and if residents could be left undisturbed if they don't answer the door. Verdict: Holden Court is a fantastic place to live in terms of convenience, surroundings, and the supportive nature of the team. However, I hope management can look into refining their room entry procedures to better respect students' privacy and boundaries.

Honestly, choosing these halls was the best move. The location and the rooms are obviously great, but it’s the vibe of the place that really wins. It’s one of the few spots that actually feels like a community rather than just a place to sleep between lectures. ​The management team is world-class, specifically Charlie and Bobbie. They are both total stars—always around for a chat and they genuinely look out for everyone living here. Whether it's a quick fix in the flat or just needing some help with admin, they handle everything so quickly and with such good energy. It makes a huge difference knowing there are people on-site who actually have your back and know your name. ​Everything else is spot on too: the facilities are modern, maintenance is super responsive, and the whole place is kept in great shape. If you want a stress-free year with staff who actually care, definitely book here. Huge thanks to Charlie and Bobbie for making it such a vibe!

I’ve had a great experience staying at Holden Court. The staff are really helpful, especially Bobbie. She always helped me with anything I needed and was super understanding, nice, and accommodating. Really made things easier. Definitely recommend to other students.
