Blau, Barcelona

A great place to stay, even if it is only for a week or two. Some comments: The rooms: The sleeping spots are great, as well as the bathroom and kitchen facilities. Be aware that there is a light switch that has a motion sensor in the kitchen, and that light is really bright directly in the face of the one sleeping near the kitchen (which is annoying). If there is any noise in the rooms nearby, you can hear everything, and the aircon is really loud - so remember your earplugs. If you want the rooms with a terrace, be aware that there is no sun, and it is right next to your neighbor. As well as the people from the hall can look at you, so if you want it to be a sunspot and privat, it isn't. The rest of the facilities: The movie theatre is really nice, the laundry facilities are easy to use and cost 3 € for a wash and 3 € for drying. The gym and pool is really nice, and has what you need. The study spots/cafe is really nice as well. They have alot of activities, which is nice especially if you want to connect with other people.

I stayed at BLAU for 13 nights and had a great experience overall. I spent a long time searching for accommodation in advance, but especially during the high season, it is extremely difficult to find affordable housing for students. I hope BLAU continues to prioritize providing this opportunity to students who may be financially disadvantaged. The included amenities were a huge bonus. Having access to the gym, pool, and recreational facilities such as billiards made the stay much more enjoyable. The community activities, including the running club, language classes, cinema nights, and social drinking events, were excellent opportunities to meet people and build connections. The staff and reception team were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The café and restaurant on the ground floor are also a great addition, making it easy to spend time in the building without needing to go elsewhere. The rooms are small, but very efficiently designed and provide exactly what a single student needs, especially when the focus is on studying rather than luxury. The location is fantastic as well: a great neighborhood, only about 1.5 km from the beach and around 3 km from the city center. The laundry service was also very convenient, with washing and drying available for €6, which I found to be a fair price. The only minor area for improvement would be the kitchen equipment and supplies. Basic shared items such as salt, oil, and similar essentials were somewhat limited. Overall, BLAU offers excellent value for students, combines affordability with a strong sense of community, and provides a very comfortable environment for studying and socializing.

I had a great stay during my time in Barcelona. Ms. Noemi was super accommodating and welcoming. She gave good recommendations and took good care of me during my stay! The gym has great equipment and the pool is nice and sunny. There is a grocery near by too!

During my stay at Blau, I truly enjoyed the various facilities (cinema room, sports room, game room, gym, and pool) and the programs organized for residents. I especially appreciated being able to take Spanish and Catalan classes, where I learned useful expressions that I could actually use while traveling. Through the Barcelona Walk and Talk activity I was able to explore the city with other travelers and share meaningful conversations, which made the experience even more memorable. I would also like to give a special thanks to Marie for always preparing such fun and enjoyable events. Even though I came alone, I was able to meet many wonderful people and make great friends. In particular, the reception staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made me feel comfortable and at home throughout my stay. I’m truly grateful to all of them for their warmth and support. The location is also excellent — it’s close to Glòries (L1), Bac de Roda (L2), and Poblenou (L4), making it easy to get around the city center. I especially loved being close to the beach. There is also a Mercadona right in front of the accommodation, which made grocery shopping very convenient. If I come back to Barcelona, I would definitely stay at Blau again. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone visiting the city.

I had a very pleasant stay at BLAU during my trip in Barcelona. It is not in the middle of town but there are trains and tram near by. There is a supermarket opposite to the accommodation for convenience. Receptionists are friendly and helpful. On site amenities are great. The only suggestion I would made is to avoid the room with bunk bed if you are not very fit person. The ladder is very small and straight and I have difficulties to get on/off the bed. At then end I have to pay and upgrade to a room without a ladder.
