Campus House, Carlton

This afternoon, I was using the laundry room to dry my clothes. I paid for 90 minutes of dryer time. However, after about 45 minutes, another person removed my clothes from the dryer (I paid) and placed MY CLOTHES into a different machine, then put his own clothes into the dryer I had paid for. Then, he used the remaining time that I had already paid for. Apparently, he did not make any payment and used the dryer time that I had already paid for. It’s not about the money, it’s about basic respect and principles. Thankfully, Crystal, who is a very kind and helpful receptionist, assisted me in identifying the person involved. I hope the Journal management will take this matter seriously. PERIOD.

I moved into Journal last semester, and it has genuinely been one of the best student accommodation experiences I could have asked for. The community here is incredibly welcoming, and there are always well-organised events that make it easy to meet people and feel at home. From social gatherings to larger themed events, there’s consistently something happening, often with free food, which is always a bonus as a student. What has stood out most to me is the range of opportunities available beyond just living here. Through Journal’s programs, especially the Content Creator Program, I’ve been able to gain real hands-on experience in social media and marketing while also having a lot of fun. It has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’ve even had the chance to take on leadership-style responsibilities within the community. Overall, Journal has given me not just a place to stay, but a supportive and vibrant environment that has truly enhanced my university experience. I would highly recommend it to any student looking for a balance of comfort, community, and opportunities to get involved.

The location of campus house is ideal. The proximity to Uni Melb means no long commutes and the nearby tram stops make it so easy to travel all over the city. I have loved my room, it felt immediately home-y, especially being a visiting student which meant I didn't have many of my own decorations. The common areas are great and well maintained. There is a nice variety of equipment in the gym, it is so handy to have a laundry room in the building, and the views from the roof on a sunny day are amazing. The staff are very kind and helpful, and are always a friendly face around the building. Various events are organised consistently which is a nice way to meet people, especially if you're new to Melbourne/Australia, and the trips arranged offer a great opportunity to see different parts of Victoria and try new things.

Journal has been absolutely amazing for me as an international student who’s had to live on my own. I’ve mad lifelong friends who have been an integral part of my life here in melbourne. I’ve especially been helped by Khan, who has always been kind enough to help with my troubles here in Journal. 10/0!

I’ve been living at Journal Student Living for about a semester now and overall it’s been a really good experience. The location is super convenient, especially for students studying at the University of Melbourne. My room is bright and comfortable. The building facilities are also well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful whenever I have questions. Almost every day you will get the most beautiful sunset which I really love. I’ve enjoyed living here, so I decided to extend another year contract here. Last but not least, I highly recommend Journal to all students.
