I've lived in a Hillside House for almost a year now, and I've loved every day and highly recommend it to anybody considering the accommodation in Sheffield. We're looking at accommodation, and it's very easy to overfocus on the particular offerings each one may have. However, for me, the most significant benefit the hillside house offers is the staff culture largely engendered by its manager, Sophie. Realistically, in day-to-day life, it is the staff that you interact with more than anything else. Yes, it’s amazing to have a gym, and it's cost-efficient to have washing and drying machines. The rooftop area is a fantastic place to host friends or even to read. But what I stress is the day-to-day interactions that come to define one's experience at the accommodation in which they live in. Sophie has done an incredible job of creating a space that not only the staff want to get to know each resident, but also each resident wants to get to know each staff member. The staff are chatty, outgoing, and hardworking. What time it was that house would undoubtedly have been so much worse had it not been for Sophie, Amina, Aoife, Dan, Claire, Louisa and James. It's essential that I stress this because each website advertises its price per week; it was really hard to get a sense of this with the staff alike, and it's very easy to underestimate just how important that is when it comes to living and accommodation. If you have any doubts about Hillside House, consider meeting with its staff in person or over the phone. Indeed, Hillside House does have a slightly higher price, but this is offset not only by its facilities but also by the fantastic events it hosts, such as sushi making, tote bag dying, live animal drawing, and many more.

Really like my time living here, I am going to miss it so much when i finish my masters! The building is so beautiful and next to the university campus and a very pretty and green park. The people downstairs are so smiley and friendly, they always brighten my day when they say hello as I walk by! They have always helped when I have needed it, this has been through fixing things quickly in my room and even helping me carry big parcels when I have had them delivered. The girls are so nice and strong!! Having security on in the night makes me feel so safe and I can collect parcels when university finishes late. There is always some fun event every week, I have done paintings, made bracelets, made pizza, made sushi, and tried many new foods and drinks. I really enjoy these experiences and the chance to speak to my fellow residents. I really recommend living at Hillside to my fellow university students, it is a home away from home.

What an amazing first experience in student accommodation, there are a wide range of facilities that can be booked and are well maintained. The lobby is lovely and has a free coffee machine and activities taking place there. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. My room is spacious and aesthetically pleasing.

Honestly, this has been the best accommodation I’ve stayed in throughout my time in Sheffield! Being in my final year, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to live it’s made my last year so special! First off, the staff are absolutely amazing. They’re always so friendly, helpful, and quick to sort out anything you need. Their positive attitude genuinely brightens my day every time I walk in. Special shoutout to Sophie she’s been so kind and understanding, especially when I’ve been struggling mentally. She listens, supports, and always makes me feel heard. The security team are just as great super approachable and helped me move in so smoothly! Secondly, the study spaces here are a total win (especially the Dynamite Study Room). It’s quiet, peaceful, and honestly the perfect vibe to focus and get work done. I’m always more productive here than anywhere else. The amenities are another huge plus — the gym, free laundry, karaoke and games rooms, and even the coffee machine (a lifesaver during deadlines). There are always fun events going on and so many freebies it really feels like a community. And finally, the location couldn’t be better. It’s right in the heart of campus, super close to all Uni of Sheffield buildings, so I can get to lectures on time, grab food nearby, and still have time to rest. My room itself is so cozy it has the perfect lighting, soothing colours, and the dishwasher is honestly a game changer. It feels like home, and I’m genuinely so happy I chose to stay here for my final year!

Really friendly staff and great location! It's a pretty introverted accommodation, but we have many events and lots of free food (I just wish we would've had more events on the terrace while it was still warm). No cleaning of common areas, which can be tricky with shared flats, but maintenance is really quick. Love the coffee machine and common areas (study rooms, kitchen etc).
